It is not unusual to hear stories of people who have been touched by the game of golf. Not as common are those about the game being touched by a particular person.
Peggy Kirk Bell is one of those particular people whose grace, wit, and charm touched golf like few others have.
Pine Needles Resorts announced a staff promotion in Sales and welcomed several additions to its Golf Operations team.
Tyler Mishler has been promoted to Social Sales & Golf Group Manager, while four staff members have been added to the Golf Operations team.
Tournament field comprised of 128 golfers from 15 states and Canada competing in two divisions, Open & Senior
Southern Pines, NC – March 6, 2017 – A field of 128 amateur golfers from 15 states and Canada teed off Friday in the 23rd Annual Pine Needles Invitational Golf Tournament at Pine Needles & Mid Pines in Southern Pines, N.C.
A strong field of amateur golfers competed in two divisions (Open & Senior) over three days on two signature Donald Ross–designed golf courses. The tournament annually attracts a strong field of amateur golfers in one of the most prestigious team events to kick off the tournament season.

Peggy Kirk Bell thought she was making a joke in 1991 when Pine Needles hosted the U.S. Women’s Senior Amateur two years after having had the U.S. Girls’ Junior. During her remarks at the opening night dinner, the long-time Pine Needles owner said, “Well, we’ve had the senior ladies and we’ve had the young girls. Now if we could get the pros in here, we’d have it covered.”

One of the main reasons groups come to Pine Needles and Mid Pines is the rich history. Pine Needles has hosted three U.S. Women’s Opens and will host the upcoming Senior Women’s Open.
Meghan Miller joined Pine Needles in February 2016 as a member of the Golf Operations staff. With a strong background in Food & Beverage, she quickly proved herself to be a multi-talented asset to the resort and was promoted in January 2017 to Pine Needles Food & Beverage Manager.

The accolades began flowing as soon as Mid Pines reopened in September 2013 following a greens conversion to bermuda and complete restoration of the fairway lines, natural sandy rough areas and bunker configurations under the auspices of architect Kyle Franz.
