Ulrich wins CPGA Senior Open at Pine Needles/Mid Pines

Whispering Pines resident holds off two amateurs to claim title 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – November 4, 2016 – Gus Ulrich of Whispering Pines, N.C. shot 69 in the final round of the Pine Needles/Mid Pines Carolinas PGA Senior Open to win the title, holding off a pair of amateurs. The two-day event was held at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club and Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club.

Ulrich finished 8-under-par for the event with a two-day total of 135. Sherrill Britt of West End, N.C. and Eddie Hargett of West Blythewood, S.C. tied for second finishing three shots off the lead with a total of 138. 

Mitch Adams of Troy, N.C. was fourth at 143.
